Corneal Topography
Corneal Topography is an examination performed to analyze the relief and curvature of the cornea across its entire surface, that is, from the center to its periphery.
It allows us to create a kind of βthree-dimensional mapβ or βmappingβ of the entire surface of the cornea, showing any irregularities in its relief and curvature.
As the cornea is normally responsible for approximately 70% of the eye's refractive power, its topography is extremely important in the evaluation and diagnosis of various eye diseases or in pre- and post-operative evaluations.
It is very important in cases of high and irregular astigmatism and is a complementary examination in the adaptation of contact lenses .
Corneal topography is a painless examination that takes approximately 5 minutes to complete and does not require prior preparation.
