Retinography
Retinography, as the name suggests, is a photograph of the retina, where we can observe the retinal veins and arteries, the macula and the optic nerve.
The images obtained in a retinography are a valuable aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of some eye diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration (AMD), among others.
The images obtained through retinography are saved and allow the development of a given pathology to be documented, thus enabling more rigorous monitoring of the patient and monitoring the effectiveness of the treatment of the underlying pathology.
Retinography allows the capture of an image of the retina in digital format and in high resolution and the equipment used in retinography is called a fundus camera.
The examination can be performed on just one eye (monocular retinography) or on both eyes (binocular retinography).
